Therefore, a strategy to enhance students' awareness of the benefits and harms of e-cigarettes is needed.The endocannabinoid system is a complex neuronal system involved in a number of biological functions, like attention, anxiety, mood, memory, appetite, reward, and immune responses. It is at the centre of scientific interest, which is driven by therapeutic promise of certain cannabinoid ligands and the changing legalization of herbal cannabis in many countries. The endocannabinoid system is a modulatory system, with endocannabinoids as retrograde neurotransmitters rather than direct neurotransmitters. Neuropharmacology of cannabinoid ligands in the brain can therefore be understood in terms of their modulatory actions through other neurotransmitter systems. The CB1 receptor is chiefly responsible for effects of endocannabinoids and analogous ligands in the brain. An overview of the neuropharmacology of several cannabinoid receptor ligands, including endocannabinoids, herbal cannabis and synthetic cannabinoid receptor ligands is given in this review. Their mechanism of action at the endocannabinoid system is described, mainly in the brain. In addition, effects of cannabinoid ligands on other neurotransmitter systems will also be described, such as dopamine, serotonin, glutamate, noradrenaline, opioid, and GABA. In light of this, therapeutic potential and adverse effects of cannabinoid receptor ligands will also be discussed.
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an effective treatment for actinic keratoses (AK). PDT is usually performed with occlusion of the photosensitizer prior to subsequent illumination.
This study aimed to compare the efficacy and tolerability of occlusive versus non-occlusive application of a 5-aminolevulinic gel (BT-200 ALA) for PDT of multiple AK on the scalp or face.
Prospective, investigator-blinded, within-patient comparison study on 45 patients. PDT with occlusion of ALA was performed in a target area on one randomized side of the scalp or face. One week later a contralateral target area received the same treatment except that no occlusion of the ALA gel was performed. 3 and 6months after PDT, the clearance rate of a predetermined target lesion and the total clearance rate of all AK within the treated areas were determined. PDT-induced pain and skin phototoxicity and cosmetic outcome were also recorded.
Clearance rate of the target AK and total AK clearance rate at 3months after PDT was 88.4% and 90.6% for occlusive PDT and 58.1% (P=.001) and 70.4% (P=.04) for non-occlusive PDT. The corresponding values at 6months after PDT were 69.7% and 72.1% for occlusive PDT and 30.2% (P<.001) and 35.6% (P=.001) for non-occlusive PDT. Pain score and skin phototoxicity were significantly higher after occlusive ALA application. No difference was observed with respect to cosmetic outcome.

The unusual properties that are opposite to operational modes in conventional electronics for a nearly infinite time frame offer unprecedented opportunities in research areas of eco-friendly electronics, temporary biomedical implants, data-secure hardware systems, and others. There is locus heterogeneity and both dominant and recessive inheritance. A detailed description of associated extremity and hand anomalies does not currently exist due to the rarity of this syndrome. This study seeks to document the hand anomalies present in Robinow syndrome to allow for improved rates of timely and accurate diagnosis. A focused assessment of the extremities and stature was performed using clinical examination and standard photographic images. A total of 13 patients with clinical and molecular diagnosis consistent with dominant Robinow syndrome or recessive Robinow syndrome were evaluated. All patients had limb shortening, the most common of which was mesomelia; however, rhizomelia and micromelia were also seen. These findings are relevant to clinical characterization, particularly as Robinow syndrome has classically been defined as a "mesomelic disorder." A total of eight distinct hand anomalies were identified in 12 patients with both autosomal recessive and dominant forms of Robinow syndrome. One patient did not present with any hand differences. The most common hand findings included brachydactyly, broad thumbs, and clinodactyly. A thorough understanding of the breadth of Robinow syndrome-associated extremity and hand anomalies can aid in early patient identification, improving rates of timely diagnosis and allowing for proactive management of sequelae.
The purpose of this article is to investigate the link between women's autonomy and their utilization of antenatal, natal and post-natal healthcare services in Tajikistan. Previous studies focused only on a single dimension of such services, for instance, utilization of antenatal care. By contrast, we explore antenatal, natal and post-natal healthcare services utilization using the number of indicator for each of the dimensions.
Data come from two national surveys that were conducted in 2012 and 2017. The target population is women of reproductive age (16-49) who were married or cohabitating with a partner (N = 7540). Several regression models were estimated to quantify association between women's autonomy and the utilization.
Lack of women's autonomy is associated with a lower probability of (a) having had at least four antenatal check-ups during pregnancy, (b) beginning first antenatal check-up early, (c) delivering in a healthcare facility, (d) having the skilled attendance during pregnancy, (e) having a mother post-delivery check-up, and (f) having a child post-delivery check-up.
