The BBC once again topped the list for number of worldwide visits at 1.2 billion, as the ranking of the top ten sites remained unchanged compared to November. Similarweb’s data includes traffic to all pages within the bbc.com and bbc.co.uk domains and not just news. The rest of the top five consisted of msn.com, cnn.com and edition.cnn.com, nytimes.com and Google News.

The English language Jerusalem-based site saw visits increase 604% year-on-year to 64.2 million and entered our top-50 ranking for the first time in 42nd place, according to digital intelligence platform, Similarweb. Month-on-month the status of the top ten news sites by number of visits echoed that for year-on-year changes with none seeing an increase in traffic when compared to October.

Indiatoday.in was the fastest growing site in the top 50 (70.6m visits  - up 48% on December 2020) while news18.com, co-owned by Warner Media, was second-fastest growing (118.7m visits - up 39%). New apps and app updates that don’t support the SHA-256 version of this certificate will no longer be accepted by the App Store starting August 14, 2023. First, to help developers understand how third-party SDKs use data, we’re introducing new privacy manifests — files that outline the privacy practices of the third-party code in an app, in a single standard format. When developers prepare to distribute their app, Xcode will combine the privacy manifests across all the third-party SDKs that a developer is using into a single, easy-to-use report. With one comprehensive report that summarizes all the third-party SDKs found in an app, it will be even easier for developers to create more accurate Privacy Nutrition Labels.

Among May’s top ten, the New York Times saw the biggest fall, with year-on-year visits down 30% to 575.3 million, continuing several months of steady decline. Eighth-fastest growing was British news website independent.co.uk (115.9 million visits, up 21%). Along with the BBC and The Sun, The Independent is among the UK newsbrands that have recently invested in their US presence. It was followed by apnews.com (87 million visits, up 53%), which recently signed a deal with Open AI to license its archive, and timesofindia.com (194.3 million, up 35%).
