Practical challenges include difficulties with data acquisition, curation, and harmonization with other data sources limiting collaboration. However, efforts toward integration of MMM data, advancements in data science, and the availability of cloud-based infrastructures are now affording the opportunity for MMM to advance the care of patients with brain trauma. MMM provides data to guide the precision management of patients with traumatic brain injury in real time. While challenges exist, there are exciting opportunities for MMM to live up to this promise and to drive new insights into the physiology of the brain and beyond.
Adequate and effective therapy for resistant vasovagal syncope patients is lacking and the benefit of cardioneuroablation (CNA) in this cohort is still debated. The aim of this study is to assess the long-term effect of CNA versus conservative therapy (CT) in a retrospectively followed cohort.
A total of 2874 patients underwent head-up tilt test (HUT) and 554 (19.2 %) were reported as positive, with VASIS type 2B response or > 3 s asystole in 130 patients. After exclusion of 29 patients under 18 years and over 65 years of age, 101 patients were included final analysis. Fifty-one patients (50.4%) underwent CNA and 50 (49.6%) patients received CT. After propensity score matching, 19 pairs of patients were successfully matched. The recurrence rate of syncope was compared between groups.
During a median follow-up of 22 months (IQR, 13-35), syncope was seen in 12 (11.8%) cases. In the 19 propensity-matched patients, recurrent syncope was observed in 8 patients in the CT group and in 2 patients in the CNA group, respectively. In mixed effect Cox regression analysis, CNA was associated with less syncope recurrence risk at follow-up (HR 0.23, 95% CI 0.03-0.99, p = 0.049). The 4-year Kaplan-Meier syncope free rate was 0.86 (95% CI, 0.63-1.00) for CNA group and 0.50 (95% CI, 0.30-0.82) for CT group in the matched cohort.

These muscles frequently show variations in their attachments. Here, an extremely rare variant muscle belonging to this group has been presented. During cadaveric dissection for undergraduate medical students, an additional muscle was found between sternohyoid and superior belly of omohyoid muscles bilaterally in a male cadaver aged approximately 70 years. This muscle took its origin from posterior surface of the manubrium sterni, capsule of the sternoclavicular joint and the posterior surface of the medial part of the clavicle. It was inserted to the hyoid bone between the attachments of sternohyoid and superior belly of omohyoid muscles and was supplied by a branch of ansa cervicalis profunda. There is no report on such a muscle in the literature and it could be named as "sternocleidohyoid muscle". Knowledge of this muscle could be useful in neck surgeries.Cancer is common among older Chinese American immigrants. Psychological distress may be associated with cancer pain, yet prior studies have not examined this relationship. We conducted a secondary analysis of 514 Chinese Americans with cancer-related pain. Patients completed validated questionnaires, including the Chinese Health Questionnaire-12 (CHQ-12). Analyses evaluated associations among sociodemographics, acculturation, psychological distress, and pain variables. Most patients had low acculturation and socioeconomic levels. Overall, 51.9% of patients reported moderate-severe psychological distress, 35.8% reported worst pain intensity ≥7/10 over the previous week and 41.2% had high pain-related distress. Higher CHQ-12 scores were associated with younger age (β = -0.13); lower educational level (β = -0.12); birthplace in China (β = -0.18); lack of a caregiver (β = -0.10); higher worst pain intensity (β = 0.15); and higher pain-related distress (β = 0.28; all p  less then  0.05; R2 = 0.23). Chinese American cancer patients with chronic pain experience high psychological distress, which is associated with pain characteristics and other social factors.

The total drug amount in fetal compartments at term delivery was estimated and subsequently integrated as initial conditions in different tissues of a whole-body, neonatal, physiologically based pharmacokinetic model to predict drug concentrations in the neonatal elimination phase after birth. Neonatal elimination processes were parameterized accdemonstrate the general feasibility of applying physiologically based pharmacokinetic models to predict washout concentrations of transplacentally acquired drugs in newborns. Although most patients with COVID-19 exhibit mild clinical manifestations, in approximately 5% of these patients, the disease eventually progresses to severe lung injury or even multiorgan dysfunction. This situation represents various challenges to hepatology. In the context of liver injury in patients with COVID-19, several key problems need to be solved. For instance, it is important to determine whether SARS-CoV-2 can directly invade liver, especially when ACE2 appears to be negligibly expressed on hepatocytes. In addition, the mechanisms underlying liver dysfunction in COVID-19 patients are not fully understood, which are likely multifactorial and related to hyperinflammation, dysregulated immune responses, abnormal coagulation and drugs.
