Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Players can upgrade their weapons and equipment with new affixes. They can also improve the base stats of the item or provide additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and have access to the kiln.
Typically objects with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a stronger base, whereas objects with strong bases, such as Eth titans don't change in their stats following being upgraded.
Upgrade components
Upgrade components are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, trinkets and gathering tools, giving an added bonus or effect while the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, retrieved in loot from enemies, or obtained from chests and missions. Some upgrades have additional cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.
To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the player must select it and then click the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will display on the right-hand side of the screen a preview that shows the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, are able to be used in any type of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are restricted to a specific type. Infusions are gems that can only be used in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They offer the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used in other equipment. Suffix upgrades that can be put in gathering tools, will add their names to the end of the name of the item they are connected to, for example adding a Glyph to an item that is a Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor would transform it into a Canthan Staff Wrapping of Minor Vigor.
If a player upgrades a gathering tool and replaces glyphs with another glyph the old one will be returned to their inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, excluding the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant variations from the previous versions. Gear is now categorised in tracks and each item is able to be upgraded as many times before it is "leveled out." The costs for upgrading increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading cost of upgrades across several items.
This allows the item to receive new upgrade components and a greater chance of success. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Energy and it resets to 0 in the event of failure, or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base type. For example an uncommon or rare weapon that has a standard base will have no more than two affixes available for it and a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.
Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests based on the current level of the item and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.
If an item doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC gives players the option to transfer it to a different character and re-infuse the item with a different set or upgrades. This process can take up to two hours and costs the same amount of material however it will result in less chance of success.
Engineers will employ a level to compare the height of the building against a known location, such as a benchmark. This process is known as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings with the level, backsighting rod, and then turning the level to take the foresighting rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are built to a high level of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly improve an item's strength and damage as well as other attributes. This can be done via the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling can be costly and should only be performed in the rarest of circumstances.
Reroll tokens are obtained by recycling upgraded items. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or a similar item. Recyclable items come with an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the amount of level filled.
Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes, which made them easier for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats most important to your build more often than others. This included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
official website has changed since the last patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for every stat. This could be a positive or a negative thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item can also come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving the bonus of your choice.
The game also comes with number sets that give an extra bonus when three or four upgraded items from the set are installed on an item. This is a great way to give a character a lot more power without spending a ton of money.
Many players choose to reroll their gear and weapons, particularly in the early stages of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game faster.
Sets
Sets are collections that can be set up differently. They could be of various dimensions, have none of the elements, or contain a single element. They can be used for organizing data or separating information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in various ways such as size and shape.
There are a variety of set items to upgrade in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Some are worth upgrading, others are not. Upgrades are worth it for armor sets that provide high defense values and set bonuses. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the item's stats much compared to their counterparts in purple. This makes them less attractive to upgrade when your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already large.
Some set items are upgraded for their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, increasing their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement were increased as well).
Another reason to upgrade certain items is to bring them into the same level as their levels. The Immortal King Set, for example, has a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items could enhance their defense, and improve their performance in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the item's attributes and the required items to upgrade it. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the necessary items required to upgrade it. For instance the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also verify the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking, weapons and jewelry offer greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have weapons-damage or spell glyphs. This will result in a significant improvement in their stats. It will also boost the defense value of armor with a newer appearance.
