For an active electrode material, the morphology, microstructure and the effective specific surface area derived from them, have a dominant effect for the high performance supercapacitors. In this study, 3D interconnected activated carbons with controlled and optimized morphologies and porous structures were prepared from accessible carbon source and graphene oxide by a hydrothermal carbonization and following an activation method. Through optimizing the ratios of the precursors and reaction conditions, an electrode material with excellent specific surface area of 2318 m2 g-1, meso-/macro-pore ratio of 63.2% (meso-/macro-pore volume reached to 0.83 cm3 g-1), as well as an outstanding electrical conductivity of 46.6 S m-1, was obtained. The materials exhibit superior double-layer capacitive performances on a symmetric supercapacitor, delivering superior specific capacitance of 157 F g-1 in organic electrolyte system at current density of 0.5 A g-1, excellent energy density of 37.6 W h kg-1 with a power density of 7.1 kW kg-1 and good cycling stability of capacitance retention of 94% over 7000 cycles. These results offer a practical method to prepare the desired carbon electrode materials with controlled morphology and structure for high efficiency electrochemical energy storage devices.Non-Hermitian generalizations of the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger (SSH) models with higher periods of the hopping coefficients, called the SSH3 and SSH4 models, are analyzed. The conventional construction of the winding number fails for the Hermitian SSH3 model, but the non-Hermitian generalization leads to a topological system due to a point gap on the complex plane. The non-Hermitian SSH3 model thus has a winding number and exhibits the non-Hermitian skin effect. Moreover, the SSH3 model has two types of localized states and a zero-energy state associated with special symmetries. The total Zak phase of the SSH3 model exhibits quantization, and its finite value indicates coexistence of the two types of localized states. Meanwhile, the SSH4 model resembles the SSH model, and its non-Hermitian generalization also exhibits the non-Hermitian skin effect. A careful analysis of the non-Hermitian SSH4 model with different boundary conditions shows the bulk-boundary correspondence is restored with the help of the generalized Brillouin zone or the real-space winding number. Comparing to its allotrope, black phosphorus, mechanical properties of blue phosphorus have not been explored in detail. Here we report molecular dynamics simulations of mechanical responses of blue phosphorus under uniaxial tensile, biaxial tensile and shear loadings. It is found that blue phosphorus shows less anisotropic effect as compared to black phosphorus, the room temperature Young's modulus is about 122.3 GPa and 121.6 GPa along armchair and zigzag directions, respectively, shear modulus is about 27.1 GPa and 28.6 GPa, respectively, along armchair and zigzag directions. Temperature effect on mechanical responses is also systematically studied within a range of 5-400 K. It is found that temperature reduces both Young's modulus and fracture strain and fracture strength of blue phosphorus, owing to the interplay between thermal energy and strain energy applied to the models. Brittle fracture mode is found in blue phosphorus in all loading conditions, with varied crack nucleation and propagation modes. The role of strain rate on the mechanical properties is examined and found to systematically modify the ultimate stress and ultimate strain of BlueP. Structural details including bond length and bond angle variations to external strain are analyzed to gain deeper insights into the underlying mechanisms.In this study, we investigated the mechanisms by which puerarin alleviates osteoclast-related loss of bone mass in ovariectomy (OVX)-induced osteoporosis model mice. Puerarin-treated OVX mice exhibited higher bone density, fewer tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAcP)-positive osteoclasts, and levels of lower reactive oxygen species (ROS) within bone tissues than vehicle-treated OVX mice. Puerarin suppressed in vitro osteoclast differentiation, hydroxyapatite resorption activity, and expression of osteoclastogenesis-related genes, such as NFATc1, MMP9, CTSK, Acp5 and c-Fos, in RANKL-induced bone marrow macrophages (BMMs) and RAW264.7 cells. It also reduced intracellular ROS levels by suppressing expression of TRAF6 and NADPH oxidase 1 (NOX1) and increasing expression of antioxidant enzymes such as heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1). Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are a class of noncoding RNAs which are anomalously expressed in cancers and involved in the progression of cancers. In this study, we found that circSEMA5A was upregulated in BC tissues and cell lines. The overexpressed circSEMA5A was correlated with malignant characteristics of BC. In vitro data indicated that circSEMA5A promoted proliferation, suppressed apoptosis, facilitated migration, accelerated invasion, enhanced angiogenesis and promotes glycolysis of BC. Mechanistically, circSEMA5A served as a miRNA sponge for miR-330-5p to upregulates Enolase 1 (ENO1) expression and facilitated the activation of Akt and β-catenin signaling pathways. Then, we showed that circSEMA5A exerted its biological functions partially via miR-330-5p/ENO1 signaling. Moreover, circSEMA5A raised SEMA5A expression by recruiting EIF4A3 to enhance the mRNA stability of SEMA5A, and thereby accelerated BC angiogenesis. To sum up, circSEMA5A is upregulated in BC and facilitates BC progression by mediating miR-330-5p/ENO1 signaling and upregulating SEMA5A expression.The prevalence of chronic pain in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes mellitus is high and correlates with higher frailty risk, but satisfactory pain control frequently fails, necessitating opioid initiation. We aimed to examine whether opioid use affected their outcomes and whether such a relationship was modified by frailty. From the longitudinal cohort of diabetes patients (n = 840,000), we identified opioid users with CKD (n = 26,029) and propensity score-matched them to opioid-naïve patients in a 11 ratio. We analyzed the associations between opioid use and long-term mortality according to baseline frailty status, defined by the modified FRAIL scale. Among all, 20.3% did not have any FRAIL items, while 57.2%, 20.6%, and 1.9% had 1, 2, and at least 3 positive FRAIL items, respectively. After 4.2 years, 16.4% died. Cox proportional hazard regression showed that opioid users exhibited an 18% higher mortality risk (HR 1.183, 95% CI 1.13-1.24) with a dose- and duration-responsive relationship, compared to opioid-naive ones. Furthermore, the mortality risk posed by opioids was observed only in CKD patients without frailty but not in those with frailty. In conclusion, opioid use increased mortality among patients with CKD, while this negative outcome influence was not observed among frail ones.
