A total of 17 adult horses were divided into two groups supplemented and control. The supplemented group was fed 60 g of shiitake mushrooms per day for 5 months. We have designed a specific set of primers for the genus Batrachuperus to amplify a 160 bp fragment of Cytb. The sequences were obtained from nested PCR on eDNA extracted from water samples, after which DNA barcoding was performed according to sequence analysis to determine the presence of the target species in the water. The method was validated using water from the Zhouzhi Heihe River with known B. taibaiensis populations and found that B. taibaiensis eDNA can move at least 150 m downstream from its point of origin. This study is the first to establish an optimal method for obtaining the eDNA of Batrachuperus from water samples, which provides a theoretical basis for resource investigation and the protection of B. taibaiensis in future research. Semen was collected from nine South African Black ostrich males (mean age ± SD 5.25 ± 1.21 years), using the dummy female method for 5 consecutive days monthly, for 8 months. Mass sperm motility scores were recorded on a scale of 1-5 (1 little to no sperm movement; 5 rapid sperm movement). The CASA traits recorded were total motility (MOT), progressive motility (PMOT), curve-linear velocity (VCL), straight-line velocity (VSL), average path velocity (VAP), amplitude of lateral head displacement (ALH), linearity (LIN), straightness (STR), wobble (WOB), and beat-cross frequency (BCF). The results revealed positive correlations between mass sperm motility and PMOT, MOT, VCL, and VAP ranging from 0.34 to 0.59 (p &lt; 0.0001). COCs were recovered from ovarian follicles using (i) manual aspiration in ovaries of alpacas (n = 15) sacrificed at a local slaughterhouse, or (ii) transrectal ultrasound-guided follicular aspiration (or ovum-pick-up, OPU) in live alpacas (n = 13) 4 days after the administration of an ovarian superstimulation protocol (200 UI eCG). COCs recovered from both groups were morphologically evaluated and graded. Grade I to III COCs were in vitro matured for 26 h and in vitro fertilized afterwards for 20 h using fresh alpaca epididymal spermatozoa. A dominant strain, H-701, was isolated from diseased fish; physiological changes in diseased fish were investigated and molecular identification, biochemical characterization, and pathogenicity and drug sensitivity tests of H-701 were performed. The 16S rRNA gene sequence of H-701 was 99.86% homologous with that of Vibrio metschnikovii in GenBank. The 50% lethal dose of H-701 was 3.72 ± 0.929 × 104 CFU/g fish weight. The proportion of monocytes, neutrophils, and eosinophils in the blood of diseased sturgeon increased significantly, whereas the proportion of lymphocytes decreased. The experiment was designed as a 2 × 3 factorial arrangement. A total of 252 one-day-old Arbor Acres male broiler chickens were randomly allocated to 1 of 6 treatments basal diet + sterile saline (negative control, NC), basal diet + LPS (positive control, PC), 7% dry FWB + sterile saline (FWB-I), 7% dry FWB + LPS (FWB-II), 7% wet FWB + sterile saline (FWB-III) and 7% wet FWB + LPS (FWB-IV), with containing 6 replicate cages/treatment and 7 broiler chickens/cage, and the experimental period lasted for 42 days. Broilers were intraperitoneally injected with either 0.5 mg LPS or sterile saline solution per kg body weight at 16, 18 and 20 d of age. Growth performance, serum immunological parameters and indicators related to intestinal health were analyzed on days 21 and 42.
